Okay... The Mint has finally released & shipped the '09 bullion and proof buffalos.
You've traded some FRNs for the buffs and earlier in the year you traded for a UHR.

You look in your bank account and say I want one more ounce of collectable Au for 2009.

Having both in your safe, which one are you trading for?

I haven't got my 400 ounce tungsten bar from the CRIMEX so I'll have to wait.

Don't have both in my safe, just two UHR's. If I can scrape the money together I'll go for a Buffalo.

That rumor has it that if a Pd was to be minted that it would be as a set...
Pd and Au.

I haven't seen any changes in the proposed bill, so I'm not sure?
I'd truly like to see a USofA Pd coin.

The pd uhr is only good for 2009, so unless the mint some how magically starts pumping them out in the next 11 days, I doubt we're going to see it.

H.R. 3405 would have the Mint strike up to 15,000 of the $20 gold coins in both proof an uncirculated options. The legislation mandates that these collector coin may:

I do not have a UHR because I am way too poor to afford one at the moment. :bawling:

I did, however, see a UHR at the last coin show that I went to and when I saw it, I was just blown away in that it looked so thick and beautiful.

Right now, thru the mint the UHR is $79 more than the Buffalo which is $1.410.

I'm just glad I got my UHR when the POG was sub $1000. I wished I had bought another, but doing so allowed me to get a '09 Buff. The UHR is the "nicer" coin, in my non-numi opinion, definitely a heirloom.

To me, the Buff is a "busier" coin, not plain at all. What makes the UHR beautiful, is a simpler design, executed with elegance.

If you stand back and think about it you'll soon realize that the Ultra High reliefs are a ONE-SHOT 2009 MS type - high priced sale coin ending SOON - that was made to EMULATE the coin that they US mint did not have the technology to make more than 20 coins of which they destroyed all but TWO in the Smithsonian as PATTERN *1907, $20, J-1917/P-2007 in 1907. Around a total mintage of 110,000 coins too.

As I mentioned earlier, the UHR is also "thick and beautiful" but unfortunately, I cannot afford to have "her" in my collection. I have some "gold" tastes but a "silver" budget and the "silver" budget prevents me from buying a UHR.

However, I am not complaining because my true "love" is for '70's SABs and I can afford them on my "silver" budget. :emotions16:

I believe the Seasons Greetings woman is an '80's lady. I guess that makes her to young for you!! :504: :wavey:

I always snag the '70's SAB if my dealer has them. You got me hooked on that. I'll let you know if I run across any this afternoon. :signs1:

I stand corrected. Thanks for correcting me.

I prefer a '70's lady but I am very picky on the '70's lady. If and when I find a '70's SAB with the right "lady" on it, then I will post it on my '70's thread.

If there was such a thing as a 1/10 oz UHR gold coin that was "thick and beautiful", then I would definitely buy it. Since there is no such thing as a 1/10 oz UHR then...........................................Oh well.

I'll see your five years and raise you another 2-3......as you know, I have reasons for looking to 2015 as the light of day after the storm........

And, when one has PM's, does it really matter what any of them (countries) do with their funny paper money? I figure, when one buys gold or silver, they are saying - "You jokers do what ever you want with your paper - but you are not f*cking with mine!!! I am taking it off the table!!! When you are done, tell me how many pieces of paper you'll gve me for the ounce, should I decide to trade!"

See, people still look at this backwards...........

So, from my Golden Dragons.........what's a ounce of gold worth???

Not $1150.........

The correct answer is: an ounce of gold is ALWAYS worth an ounce of gold........the question people THINK they heard was: how many U.S. dollars will you give me for the ounce?? But why not euros or yen??

So, a couple of years ago we could get 700-800 pieces of paper for an ounce, now that same ounce gets us about 1150!!!

Gold does not "become" expensive.........its price never changes.........

Only the amount of paper you can get for it does..........

From an article a few weeks back......>>

1000 BC: King Solomon was known to have purchased many horses for his army. Historical records show he bought them in Egypt for 150 shekels of silver each. 150 shekels was about 55 troy ounces of silver. Today, you can still buy a riding horse for 55 troy ounces of silver ($800). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
400 BC: Some scholars report that during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, an ounce of gold bought 350 loaves of bread. Today, an ounce of gold still buys about 350 loaves ($950 divided by 350 = $2.73/loaf). <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Time of Christ: Under the Roman Empire, an ounce of gold purchased a Roman citizen his toga (suit), a leather belt, and a pair of sandals. Today, one ounce of gold will still buy a man a suit, a leather belt, and a pair of shoes. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
600 AD: In the Middle East, a chicken at the time of Mohammad would cost a family one silver Dirham (3 grams). Today, 1,400 years later, a chicken in the Middle East would still cost a family one silver Dirham. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
1963: A gallon of gasoline in America sold for 31 cents. This meant that 3 silver dimes could buy a gallon of gasoline. The total weight of silver in 3 silver dimes is .217 of an ounce. Today, 3 silver dimes would buy a gallon of gasoline anywhere in the U.S. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
1979: Gold’s average price that year was $306.68. This bought an average-priced full size bed. 30 years later, $950 would still buy you a full size bed. <o:p></o:p>

But then YOU knew this!!!!

I love to read your MASTER_HO weekly and sometimes every few days published SUMMARY on the GOLD and SILVER happenings.

Sometimes you with your 20 BEST GOLD & SILVER "writer"s pick-up something BIG I have missed. As you know TPTB remeoved GOLD from front page of NY & LA TIMES

NY & LA TIMES???

Are those two rags still in business??

And you forget - the NY Times motto - "We print all the news that fits"

And thank you for the kind words about the Gold & Silver Dragon Newletter.........which is usually twice a week, sometimes more if the markets are moving............What I post is about 1/8th what I read - and I have even posted a few thoughts from people in here under the heading "From The Chatrooms"........

Truth is - when I got into PMs the second time (2005) it was a specific reaction to Bush and TPTB............but to stay ahead of them takes a lot of reading and thought - you see my thoughts in blue (bluse cause they are so depressing! *jk*).......so we, as not only a community here, but as a minority in the public in general, have to share the info we get so we all have a better idea of what's next!!

Anyway - thanks again!!

Cheers!

For those interested, I canceled my PR Buffalo and purchased the UHR. That would make 3 that I'll have in my grubby little paws soon.

I think you will be better off investment wise with the 3rd UHR. The Buffalo is beautiful though and I don't regret getting one.

I think HS is correct in what he has been saying regarding the UHR. Down the road it could be huge.

This was posted on another forum. Anyone know if the mint really does this?

"Something is not right at the Mint. I ordered several proofs the first hour they went on sale, and tonight I was told that it would be a couple weeks before any more would be mailed out.

On another discussion forum it was stated that large orders were given priority in shipment. The Mint knows that large orders come from dealers.

These dealers keep the best coins and return the ones which they feel will not grade 70. These returned coins are then sent to individual collectors who ony ordered one coin. The Mint then sends new replacement coins to the dealers who again cull the inferior ones and send mback to the Mint to be replaced again.

That is why such a high percentage of the 2009 Buffs are now grading 70. Most of the coins being submitted for grading at this time have already been pre-inspected by professionals.

Several individuals have said that their boxes look like they had been previously opened.

I asked the representative at the Mint if this was happening and he confirmed that it appeared that the large orders had been mailed first."

So, it may be fortuitous that I canceled my order. I was told that it had already been sent to the warehouse for delivery.

ho@masterho.com use GIM in HEADLINE title

I like the COLORS and the colorful articles.

Bless you - but I sincerely doubt I have better insight than you - I take your comments VERY seriously (tho I do make jokes).........more to the point, when you and I describe what we see, and come to similar conclusions, it gives me more reason to believe I am on the right track!

That's also why, even tho I do not post as much as I once did - i am still a firm GIM member.............

We are all in this together......

Cheers - and thanks!
